If you’ve ever wondered whether or not you should have applied to Harvard, let me put your mind to rest. The answer is “Yes”.
A team of four very bright women have teamed up to make a valuable contribution to the world by asking themselves one simple question, “What if the world renowned soccer ball did more than just play soccer?”
“sOccket“, conceived at Harvard University, is a soccer ball that captures reusable energy with only fifteen minutes of regular play. This energy can be sufficient to provide up to three hours of LED-generated light in addition to replenishing rechargeable batteries for numerous uses, including charging mobile phones.
Why sOccket?
One word: Need. Even in our high-tech connected culture, the need for cheap, clean, simple, off-grid energy solutions is paramount. sOccket, the power-generating soccer ball, can put the power literally at the feet of the developing world. With 95% of Africa’s population living without access to electricity, that’s a very big deal. The sOccket team is working hard to get their technology into the hands of schools, hospitals and churches – even individual households. For more information about sOccet and a list of frequently asked questions you can visit their website at http://soccket.com.
